Left on London Bridge

In 1722 there was so much congestion on London Bridge that it became the first place in Britain where it was compulsory to drive on the left.

  1. I’ve read this before, but I always wondered why they chose the left over the right – was it due to the location of the driver of the horses… would be fascinating to know… maybe it was just a coin toss!
